Stellenbeschreibung
Toitū te marae a Tāne, Toitū te marae a Tangaroa, Toitū te whenua
(When the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive)
Welcome to Aotearoa/ New Zealand, where breathtaking landscapes and unique biodiversity await you. Aotearoa has incredibly diverse flora, fauna and fungi – from elusive kiwi and ancient tuatara to lush native forests and pristine coastlines.
In Aotearoa, conservation of the natural world is intricately woven into te ao Māori (Māori worldview). In te ao Māori, nature is embodied in a living entity, Papatūānuku (Earth Mother). She represents the mutual relationship between people and the environment. Mātauranga Māori (traditional knowledge) prioritises sustainability and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) over natural resources.
This approach means that we care for precious native ecosystems and respect their cultural and spiritual significance. We want future generations to inherit an Aotearoa rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage.
