This commercial real estate consulting firm specializes in providing strategic advisory services to a diverse client base, including banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers, developers and family offices. Their clients are involved in debt and equity investments across the United Staets, spanning all commercial real estate asset classes.
As a Junior Analyst, you will work closely with the Director of Underwriting and collaborate with internal teams to support debt and equity underwriting assignments. You will be actively involved in the full underwriting process, including market research, cash flow analysis, data input, document review, and the creation of detailed narrative reports for clients. If you have a strong analytical mindset, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment, then this role is for you!
Aufgaben
- Assist the Underwriting team with evaluating and analyzing new loan and equity investment opportunities.
- Conduct commercial real estate market research, analyzing both macro and microeconomic trends.
- Assist in the preparation of investment memos and asset summary reports for client credit/investment committees.
- Review third-party reports (e.g., appraisals, environmental, property condition, zoning, seismic, flood, insurance, credit) to ensure risk factors are accurately identified and addressed.
- Analyze assets and assess the sponsor’s ability to execute their business plan.
- Perform creditworthiness evaluations of tenants and sponsors, including lease abstraction.
- Generate reports on market conditions, rent comparables, and sales comparables using industry-standard platforms (e.g., REIS, CoStar).
- Maintain accurate records of deal information and organize documents according to firm standards.
- Support cash flow modeling and financial analysis for underwriting teams.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of commercial real estate finance models.
- Participate in underwriting assignment meetings and due diligence calls.
- Manage due diligence materials, document checklists, and question logs on a daily basis.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and client engagement efforts.
- Draft site inspection reports and conduct on-site inspections when necessary (potential for business travel).
- Facilitate the appraisal ordering process for bank and fund clients.
Qualifikationen / Voraussetzungen
- Bachelor’s degree in commercial real estate, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ideally, 1+ years of underwriting or credit analysis experience, or recent graduate with relevant internship experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, with accuracy in data analysis, narrative writing, and financial modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
